Ana withdraws from Luxembourg Sep 19th 2005

Ana withdrew from the Luxembourg Fortis Championships because of a shoulder injury.

“I am very sorry to have to withdraw from Luxembourg
as I was looking forward to playing the event but after consultation with my doctors and the team I have decided to withdraw.”

Ana would return to the circuit a week later then originally planned for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Filderstadt.

Ana faces tough draw Sep 18th 2005

Although French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium withdrew from the Luxembourg Fortis Championships because of a hamstring injury the field for this tournament is still very strong. The event has been upgraded to a Tier II Tournament and some of the world's top-ranked players are taking part.

The top draw in the event includes:

Ana to play Hopman Cup Sep 12th 2005

Ana and Novak Djokovic will represent Serbia and Montenegro in next year's Hopman Cup - international mixed teams event.

It will be the first time that Ana, ranked No. 18 in the world, will compete in the tournament. The Hopman Cup will start on the second of January 2005 in Perth.

Ana working on her fitness Sep 9th 2005

Ana is back in Switzerland where she is spending a few days with Pierre Paganini, a former athlete and soccer player, also the fitness trainer (condition coach) for Roger Federer as well as for Swiss Davis Cup team. Paganini has been helping Ana for the last 6 months. They do a combination of strength and endurance work, circuit training, running and a wide range of exercises designed to practice all the movements Ana is likely to make on a tennis court.

Ana's debut at the US Open Sep 3rd 2005

As No. 16 Ana Ivanovic is the highest ranked player to make her debut at the US Open since No. 14 Jennifer Capriati in 1990, bettered only by Monica Seles (No. 12) in 1989 since the inception of computer rankings in 1975.

Ana set to take her time Sep 1st 2005

Her US Open dream over, Ana will rest in order to fully recover from her shoulder injury. “I am going to take it easy. The most important thing is to get ready for the indoor season,” said Ana, who is scheduled to play her next competitive match in Luxembourg at the end of September.
