Internazionali BNL d'italia draw May 9th 2015

Ana has been drawn against either a qualifier or Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic in the second round of the Internazionali BNL d'italia, which begins in Rome on Monday.

Ana is seeded seventh and receives a first round bye. Possible opponents in the third round include No.11 Karolina Pliskovaa, Sabine Lisicki and Sloane Stephens.

Top seed Serena Williams is a possible quarter-final opponent, while No.3 Maria Sharapova could await in the semi-finals.

Ana confirms Petrovic split May 7th 2015

During the Mutua Madrid Open, Ana revealed that she and coach Dejan Petrovic were no longer working together.

The pair had collaborated since July 2014, but decided to end their co-operation last weekend.

"We had a little bit different views of my game," said Ana.

"Sometimes you have to make the tough decisions."

Ana won one title under the guidance of the Australian (Tokyo) and reached Premier level finals in Cincinnati and Brisbane. Ana's win-loss record was 30-14 while working with the 37-year-old.

Ana fell to a 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 loss to world No.12 Carla Suarez Navarro in the third round of the Mutua Madrid Open. In a contest filled with breaks of serve – both players were broken seven times – the seventh seed could not avoid a tough defeat after more than two hours of play.

Ana produced a highly inspired performance to see off the Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina in the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open.The 27-year-old beat the world No. 21 for the sixth time in as many meetings, hitting 38 winners en route to a 6-3, 6-4 win.

Ana through as Dulgheru retires May 2nd 2015

Ana moved into the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open after world No.69 Alexandra Dulgheru retired while trailing 4-0 in the third set. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old was close to a second straight early exit as the Romanian served for the match at 6-5 in the second set, but seventh seeded Ana eventually managed to turn the tide.

Ana wasn’t able to display her best level in the opening set. Both players faced break points in their opening service games – Ana had three chances to score a break – but neither of them succeeded to convert.

Ana to face Dulgheru May 1st 2015

Ana has been drawn against Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open. The pair will face one another on Saturday sometime after 3.30pm local time (9.30am Eastern Time).

Ana beat the 69th-ranked Romanian 6-2, 6-1  in their only previous meeting, at the U.S. Open two years ago.

Ana moves down to No.7 Apr 27th 2015

Ana has fallen one spot to No.7 in the latest WTA Singles Rankings, which are published today.

As a result of her first round loss in Stuttgart, Ana has been overtaken by Eugenie Bouchard.

In the Road To Singapore, which determines the eight qualifiers for the year-end WTA Finals, Ana is tied for 24th. This list is based on results in 2015 alone.

Ana defeated by Garcia once again Apr 21st 2015

Ana lost to world No.29 Caroline Garcia 7-6(6), 6-4 in the firsr round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. It was Ana's third defeat to the Frenchwoman in the past two months, following losses in Monterrey and Indian Wells.

It was Ana who drew first break, breaking to lead 2-1. Garcia hit back and served for the opening set at 5-3. In the sea-saw first set, Ana later had a set point at 6-5 up in the tiebreak, but Garcia won three straight points to clinch the set.

The second set was a little more on-sided, as Garcia scored an early break and led throughout.
