Ana has been handed a tough draw at the Southern Californian Open in Carlsbad. The 25-year-old, who is seeded seventh, will face world No.25 Dominika Cibulkova in round one.
From a ranking perspective it was the most difficult draw Ana could have received, as the Slovakian missed out on a seeding by just one place.
Should she reach round two, Ana will take on either a qualifier or American wild card Allie Kiick. Fourth seed Roberta Vinci could await in the quarter-finals.
Top seed and world No.3 Victoria Azarenka is a possible semi-final opponent.
The seeded players in the bottom half of the draw, whom Ana cannot face until the final, are No.2 Agnieszka Radwanska, No.3 Petra Kvitova, No.5 Samantha Stosur and No.8 Carla Suarez Navarro.
