Ana takes on American world No.55 Lauren Davis in the second round of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami on Thursday. It will be the first meeting between the pair.
20-year-old Davis is a player on the rise. Though ranked 55th in the entry list, she is 32nd in the Road to Singapore, the rankings that only take into account matches played this year.
Davis' 6-3, 6-2 win over Chinese world No.41 Shuai Zhang on Wednesday was her 14th victory of the season so far, including qualifying matches. Her confidence is seemingly sky high: last week she achieved the biggest win of her career by beating world No.4 Victoria Azarenka 6-0, 7-6 in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Miami hasn't been a very happy hunting ground for Ana: she was a quarter-finalist in her debut year of 2005 but has not reached the last eight since. That said, she has only ever once lost in the second round, in 2007.
