Ana faces former world No.1 and defending US Open champion Kim Clijsters in the semi-finals of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open in Cincinnati on Saturday.
The meeting will be the second between the pair, with Clijsters winning 6-2, 6-1 in her native Antwerp four years ago. The two players also met in a one-set exhibition match in New York in February of this year, Clijsters winning 7-6.
“It's gonna be a very tough match, and it's gonna be a lot different than the one today,” said Ana, comparing her 6-1, 6-3 win over Akgul Amanmuradova to the semi-final clash, albeit when there was a possibility she could have met Flavia Pennetta, whom Clijsters beat 7-6, 6-4.
“Because today was all about that first shot. There wasn't much rhythm out there. Tomorrow I expect much longer rallies and a lot tougher match in that sense.
“If I manage to kind of play the way I played in my previous matches, it would be really good.”
The match is scheduled to begin at 1pm local time (7pm Central European Time). Click here for live point-by-point scoring from the Lindner Family TennisCenter.
