Ana raced into the third round of the US Open, beating world No.214 Alexanda Dulgheru 6-2, 6-1. Ana has dropped just five games en route to round three.
The gap of 199 places in the rankings was evident from the start. Ana's smooth, forceful groundstrokes put the Romanian on the backfoot and she couldn't cope with the 13th seed. Dulgheru went on to make no fewer than 15 unforced errors off her forehand wing - an average of one per game - which proved decisive.
On the other hand, Ana's play was polished, and she didn't face any break points.
"I was very happy overall," said Ana. "She's a tough player. She played well and strikes some really good backhands.
"I was really happy that I managed to push her in the forehand. She produced a few more errors on that wing."
Ana will take on American world No.114 Christina McHale in round three on Saturday.
