Ana swept in round three of the Western & Southern Open with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over world No.45 Christina McHale.
The first set was somewhat tight, with Ana scoring a pivotal break in the final game. Thereafter, it was a different story: Ana reeled off seven straight games to complete victory.
She served four aces (no double faults) and hit 15 winners and 16 unforced errors.
"The court played a lot different than centre court," said Ana. "It was a little bit more bouncy and a little bit faster, I felt.
"In the first set I think we were both a little bit off rhythm. We had lots of mishits. I was really pleased to stay calm after I got broken in that first set, and, come back strong.
"That gave me confidence for the second set where I played better."
Ana will take on 24th-ranked Svetlana Kuznetsova in the third round on Thursday, after the Russian defeated world No.8 Eugenie Bouchard. The match is again schedule for Court 3.
Looking ahead to that encounter, Ana said: "We always have tough matches against each other. It's always close,
"I watched a little bit of third set today, and she really played well. She's very strong. She had the win a few weeks ago in Washington, so she's definitely very confident. It's going to be tough match.
"But I look forward to the challenge. I also enjoy competing much more. I'm really excited to have another opportunity to go on court."
