The draw for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions was made on Tuesday. Ana, who is the fifth highest-ranked player in the eight-woman field, will play Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in her opening match.
Ana has a favourable 2-0 head-to-head record against the Russian, having beaten her in Indian Wells in 2009 and in Brisbane in January of this year.
Should Ana progress to the semi-finals, she will face either top seed Li Na of China or Japan's Kimiko Date Krumm, the 40-year-old phenomenon of the WTA Tour.
The four players in the bottom half of the draw, whom Ana cannot meet until the final, are No.2 Aravane Rezai, Daniela Hantuchova, Alisa Kleybanova and Yanina Wickmayer.
