Bali arrival

Bali arrival

What a place to end the season! It is so, so beautiful here. I just need to keep reminding myself that I am here for a tournament!

I love the beach, so this is a perfect venue for me. It's a unique format: kind of like starting a tournament from the quarter-final stage. The draw is on Tuesday and I understand I will wear some traditional Balinese outfit, which will be fun.

I'm feeling good about my game. The Linz tournament was obviously a very important week for me, my first win in a long time. I learnt a lot from that experience. For example, I entered right at the very last minute. I had only just arrived back from Beijing, and I totally changed my schedule.

In the past, perhaps I wouldn't have been so open to changing everything on the spot, but I felt like I played some very good tennis in Beijing, and I couldn't wait to get back on the court.

Obviously it was a decision that paid off. I felt great during all my matches there, and I really wanted to continue it all in Luxembourg, but it was one tournament too far.

You may have seen that Heinz and I have stopped working together, so I'm in the process of looking for a new coach. It's important that I have someone with me full-time next season. For now I am fine: I played Linz and Luxembourg without a coach, and I am familiar with the games of all the players here, apart from Date.

Thanks a lot for all your messages after I won Linz. I enjoyed reading them.
